Choose a chain length from 14 cm to 26.5 cm and select from sterling silver, sterling silver with 18ct white, yellow or rose gold plating, or white, yellow or rose gold. Optional stones can be embedded, and there is space to specify their placement. You can also upload a custom design or add further instructions.
Arabic lettering has different rules from the Latin alphabet used in English. When a name is written on a bracelet, the script can feel a little like code. The signs are stylized so they can be beautifully outlined or engraved, with connected letterforms that create the finished name design.
Reading the script
Arabic is read from right to left, rather than left to right. This matters when adding an Arabic name to a chain: the orientation needs to be considered so the name is not shown backwards.
Arabic has roots in Egyptian hieroglyphs, one of the earliest writing systems used by humankind. That system combined elements now described as an alphabet and logographs. Other writing systems developed from it, including Proto-Sinaitic script, the alphabet from which modern Arabic developed. Arabic’s ancestors include Aramaic, Syrian, and Nabatean. Spelling and letter connections
Arabic treats vowels differently. Long vowels are written, while short vowels may not be, so a reader may need to identify a missing vowel to read an inscription correctly. This applies to names as well. It is important to check the Arabic spelling carefully, because a misinterpretation could change the whole meaning of each word.
Arabic is also a handwritten, cursive script in which form and position matter. Letters have subtle shape variations and can take four positions; the links between them contribute to interpretation. Writing a word in Arabic is about the connection between letters, rather than treating them as isolated elements as in the English alphabet.
